While living in Youngstown, Celeste taught at Students Motivated by the ARTS (SMARTS), a non-profit organization. Students Motivated by the Arts, or SMARTS, is a 501c3 nonprofit community-based art school providing arts education and programming in visual arts, music, dance. The chapter anticipated expanded involvement in the SMARTS program in 2018. This program provides classes on architecture to students from a variety of local schools. years annual meeting at the Center of Industry and Labor in Youngstown. Ramkey also noted this years new education and awareness program associated with SMARTS, Students Motivated by the Arts. Through the work of the Board, the organization witnessed the continuation of its Swing for Scholars Gold Outing, involvement in the Youngstown Streetscape program and assistance to the Second Harvest Food Bank. We expanded Success After 6 to Taft Elementary School in the Youngstown City. Citing the chapters efforts to provide continuing education, community service, community awareness programs and scholarships for those entering the profession, president Chad Ramkey, AIA, Phillips|Sekanick Architects, discussed each of the programs funded or created by the chapter. The meeting celebrated the success of the Eastern Ohio chapter, the smallest component of AIA in Ohio. The Center was opened in 1990 and was designed by Architect Michael Graves.
